I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and is feeling happy, full to the brim with food and drink and relaxed. As the new year approaches I have been reflecting on the year that has been and flicking through the blog posts I have written this year. It’s amazing the memories that come flooding back just by seeing a blog post title: events and days I had completely forgotten about. For me personally it is has been such an important year and so completely different to the last few years that were filled with angst and sadness as we spent four years battling infertility – and battle is the right word. This time last year I felt we had turned a corner and I could see a little light at the end of the tunnel as we had taken a break from IVF treatment and the haze that had surrounded me for so long cleared slightly. A few months later and in the Spring of 2016 we finally got the positive pregnancy test we had dreamed of for so long and as I type this we are just a couple of weeks from baby’s due date; it is still difficult to believe! 2017 looks to be a very exciting one for us and I have never felt so incredibly grateful as we move into the new year.
Here is a round up of my year via some of my favourite blog posts. I hope you’d like to go back to some of these old posts, too, especially if you missed them first time around.
Best DIY
Perhaps one of my best DIY projects ever because these leather handles that I made from bookmarks for our kitchen makeover that we completed in February have proven to be robust, effective and look great.
Best room makeover
We started 2016 by redecorating our living room and kitchen and it was such an enjoyable project that has made a huge difference to the feel of our whole home. It was the perfect way to start the year.
Best house tour
My favourite home that I featured on the blog in 2016 was the incredibly beautiful and unique Hampstead home of Celia, who is the founder of children’s clothing brand La Coqueta. Totally dreamy.
Best event
One of my favourite events of the year was a wonderful house tour organised by Function + Form and Houzz. I totally fell in love with this space…
Best trip
When I went through my 2016 posts I had completely forgotten about a trip that my sister organised for my mum’s 70th to Babington House. Someone take me back!
Best moment
And finally, my best moment of 2016 was finding out that our fifth round of IVF had worked. A mixture of absolute terror and extreme elevation has followed and I can’t wait to share news of baby’s arrival next month (please keep everything you own crossed that all goes well for us!).
I really hope 2016 has been a good year for you and that 2017 holds good things, too. Wishing everyone lots of love.

Wishing you well Katy and inshaaAllah all goes well with the delivery. Xx
enjoy this special time… Looking at baby’s room and teeny clothes, waiting for her special arrival. Happy 2017!
Love love your living room makeover. It has inspired me so much! Can you tell me what the plant is that you have in the corner of your living room please? The tall one.

Oh, thank you so much, Jaclyn – so lovely to hear. The plant is a Eucalyptus tree and smells amazing (pretty easy to look after too) x
