Ok, so I haven’t stuck to the Styling the Seasons rules this month *slaps wrists*. Instead of styling a surface in my home to reflect what the month means to me, I have styled it to reflect what I hope from the month. I love the way everyone interprets the hashtag differently; it means that Charlotte and I never know what to expect and we are surprised each month.
I have used muted colours and have tried to create a soft, soothing atmosphere using only natural light (no photoshopping or brightening!) for this month’s styling. I’ve held back on using any of the colours of Spring until April, as I am hoping this month will pass calmly and kindly. I have based the styling around my new collection of artwork by Rikkianne Van Kirk, that you can buy in my Great.ly shop. I love the simplicity, the interesting characters and the contemplative feel of these illustrations and they tone in perfectly with the beautiful handmade ceramic bowls that my mother-in-law bought me a while ago.
So, what does March mean to you? We can’t wait to see your Styling the Seasons shots – just blog about your styled surface or post a shot of it on any social media platform and use the #stylingtheseasons hashtag and don’t forget to tag me and Charlotte of Lotts and Lots.
Calm, quiet and gentle – here’s hoping.
Katy x

Thank you, lovely Ruth! x
These colours are so relaxing and very zen. I love this feel. March for me is vibrant yellow, (I’ve joined in with you this month!!), however I love this green colour too. Jess x

We’re so excited that you are joining in, Jess! Welcome to Styling the Seasons! x
Katy, this is so lovely. The prints! The bowls! The green! The light! It really does feel exceptionally calm. I hope that March is quiet and gentle for you but as I’ve just seen on Instagram that you’re undertaking quite a project, I’m not so sure you’ll manage to achieve that 😉

Oh no, don’t worry! It only took a weekend so it’s all done now. From this point onwards I will be a very quiet, still person xx
So very calm & lovely. Here’s to a restful March lovely xxx (ps love those pics…I’ll have to collect the other two ;o)

Thanks, Sarah-Lou! Yes, you must collect the other two – love them! x
I love this. Especially how the little topiary on the left looks like a hairdo to match the pictures 🙂

Oh yes! Hadn’t noticed that before. Thanks, Catherine x
I love your serene arrangement here! I think that using the space to reflect what you want from the month is a great idea, as every time you walk past and see it it’s a visual reminder to breathe and be calm. ok I think I need to try it in my house!
Also, well done for not using Photoshop! Your photos look lovely and don’t need brightening.
My not-so-calm tribute to the end of summer is on my blog… http://ghostmyst.blogspot.co.nz/2015/03/styling-seasons-march.html
