My little sister is getting married in a couple of weeks – yay! There has been lots of chat in the weeks and months leading up to the big day about how to make their ‘field’ venue look nice on a small budget so here is a little inspiration, all of which are really simple ideas that you could use for alfresco dining this summer or a wedding of your own…

Not sure if it would work for outside but we made loads of those paper tissue Pom poms. If you make them in white you can just order a standard pack of packaging tissue paper so it’s really cheap. We also hoarded jam jars and green wine bottles to fill with gyp and candles which are pretty cheap too
I so agree that a less formal wedding is more enjoyable. Love the idea of ribbons hanging everywhere. I’m sure it will all look beautiful and I hope you get all the sun! X
Lovely ideas! My trick is to put candles everywhere. I’ve been collecting cheap brass candlesticks from charity shops and flea markets whenever I see them, and I’m going to group them together on fireplaces and tables for our wedding. You just need to check your venue allows naked flames, as we found quite a few that don’t x
Did a gig at a wedding recently that went for a ‘festival vibe’ with jam jars with washi tape around them in the wedding colours with lots of greenery and large dasies. Also games available outside the marquee for children (and big kids) to play such as swingball, the Velcro tennis bats and balls, boules etc
Love this, I’m getting married in September and going for a similar vibe, although the reception is inside in a pub.
Hop bines are a really affordable foliage option at around £27 a vine, so we’re bulking out our florals with those!
We’re including lots of decorations that we can keep at home afterwards, so not free, but not ‘wasted’ money either! x
